Port Phillip Estate is a contender for the most striking winery on the Mornington Peninsula. Enter the towering sandstone fortress and you’ll be met with panoramic views of the estate’s vineyards, which you can enjoy from either the Dining Room, the deck, or the Cellar Door.
The Dining Room offers quite a formal experience. It’s open for lunch Wednesday to Sunday, and dinner Fridays and Saturdays, and features a modern Australian menu. Entrée might be duck egg pasta with smoked ragù and cured yolk, or lamb sweetbreads with pearl barely. Main might be Milking Yard roast chicken or fire-roasted John Dory, and for dessert, choose a dish of local Red Hill cherries, dark chocolate and almonds, or Sunny Ridge strawberries with pistachio cake and crème fraiche sorbet. The wine list features a range of Port Phillip and Kooyong Estate wines, complemented by a selection of Burgundies and more from elsewhere.
