Soon after they moved to Parrett Mountain in Willamette Valley, they started hanging out with their neighbours, who had a vineyard filled with chardonnay and pinot. From here, Andrew and Annedria were hooked – drawn forever into the beguiling world of pinot noir.
What started as “a couple of rows for fun” soon became a full-blown obsession for the Beckhams, who planted their first two acres in 2005. They now have a beautiful vineyard and winery where they grow and produce pinot noir (and an excellent pinot noir rosé that we love!), along with riesling, sauvignon blanc and Old-World grapes including trousseau noir, aligoté and schioppettino. Bonus: they follow organic and biodynamic farming principles and low-intervention winemaking practices (no added yeasts, no filtering).
Tasting wines at here is a truly immersive experience thanks to the wonderfully intimate, candle-lit cellar door setting, which is filled with Andrew’s brilliant ceramic art. On visiting, you can expect to be met by roaming kids, grazing goats and some incredibly textural wines, which get special aging treatment in Andrew’s impressive collection of over 70 amphoras (which he also makes himself – what a guy!). beckhamestatevineyard.com
